Repair – Transformers G1 Dinobot, Sludge leg

When a vintage toy broken, our heart also broken. As it rare and so hard to find. It is a normal case, because item do wear and tear due to time. But in most of the case, it can be repair.

A friend of mine own a piece of vintage Transformers G1 Dinobot Sludge, and during the transformation, he accidentally broken the leg. It was a clean break and a glue (whether super glue or epoxy) will not help.

And so, this is what I have done to repair it. First I glue the broken part together with epoxy glue. This is temporally to hold the piece together.

And here come the difficult part. I drill a small hole and link on the glue part, in order to insert a wire to strengthen it. The wire its cut from paper clip. Its done on two side.



And then, again I apply epoxy glue to the wire and hole to close up all the gap. Please take note that epoxy glue need to take at least 2 days to strengthen.

And here after its once. Work perfectly and transformation without any problem.



Then you can use black marker to color it.

Transformers KO sighting

KO (Knock off) its a pirated or illegal duplication by other manufacturing on the original toys. Usually they will try to make certain changes such as color, size and the packaging. But some KO duplicate the whole set as it is.

Most of the time, their quality its bit low compare to the original item, but some does have a very good quality. And most of them are from China!

Here its some of the item I have sighted, and next time I will have more details such as price and location.

MasterPiece Grimlock

One of the my favorite line, MasterPiece. This is one of the big scale for Transformers and it started by coming out base on G1 characters, but recently Takara did came out for The Movie line.

Grimlock from Dinobot unit, the leader, the badass! He is one of the popular character in the G1 cartoon, and also one of the strongest, not to mention dumb. LOL.

MasterPiece unit would usually have die-cast, alot of articulation, and they would follow as much as G1 character design, and electronic part such as LED light. And for Grimlock, this figure almost have it all, except for a very little part of die-cast.




One of the best part I like its the chrome! So shinning!

If you look closely, the eye can change color (red & blue) and the hand also articulate!


Hidden blaster in the mouth! So accurate and details.



Then alot of collector ask bout, why does he have apron and cup? Look sissy. Well, because you are not Transformers G1 hardcore fan! In one of the episode of G1 Transformers cartoon, Grimlock was cooking and serving drink.

The only sad thing bout this unit its the size, its was too small if compare to MasterPiece Optimus Prime. It would be nice if it was same size, or slightly bigger then MasterPiece Optimus Prime.

Transformers THS 02 – Convoy

This is very special edition, and I kinna like it alot, but too bad they only have two figure; THS 01 (Galaxy Force Convoy) and THS 02 (Classic Convoy). THS = The Hybrid Style.

It is a small figure, but with details, articulation and die-cast. How I wish if Takara and Hasbro can keep on this kind of quality and standard.

This is G1 classic Convoy; Optimus Prime. The pack come in with Optimus Prime, truck trailer, roller, jet pack, and stand and set of hand. I would say, one of the most complete set for Optimus Prime.



And it even come in with small tiny Matrix! (above photo shoot with Iphone3gs)



If you notice, the roller wheel actually will turn together (left and right wheel)


And here a comparison size with small die-cast car.

There were time this unit were re-issue and the price were drop until RM 200 only. I would say, worth to buy!

G1 Aerialbot – Superion

A classic figure, Generation 1 of Transformers. Not much articulation, but does have die-cast on certain part of the figure. It consist of 5 planes; Aerialbot which can combine into one huge robot; Superion.
